Zojirushi’s Mr. Bento Stainless Lunch Jar in Silver is unique and functional.The Zojirushi Mr. Bento has, as I hoped, changed the way I bring lunch to work. While its design and size is best suited for traditional Japanese bento items, a creative mind can find an array of foods to fill the canister. Upon seeing me using my mr bento lunch boxes my co-workers have commented on how much time I must take to put together such complete and balanced lunch, but ironically I spend far less time than I used to as each evening I just place components of my leftover dinner into Mr Bento respective containers.
Regarding heat/cold retention, the bento boxes works exactly as advertised. It is important to understand the top two containers are meant to hold food that is OK to keep at room temperature. You SHOULD NOT mix hot and cold items in the canister. Some have complained about the size of the lunch containers.. I’m a pretty hearty eater, and you can be more than full if you fill all the containers. The containers appear much smaller than they actually are.
The most significant complaint was regarding the odor that can accumulate in the containers. The instructions address this very problem and offer a solution. Owners should indeed wash containers immediately upon finishing their meal. The containers should be dried uncovered to allow any lingering odors to dissipate. I get the sense that many with complaints are not properly washing the containers in a timely fashion.
